Baby Size: 4 1/2 inches (about the size of an avocodo). In the next few weeks the baby will double his/her weight and add inches in length... I'm interested to see how big the belly gets by 20 weeks...
Developments: The baby's heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day. The legs are more developed and the ears are almost in the final position. The toes are starting to grow toenails.
Cravings: Overall, they have stopped (for now). Mostly because I want things that I can't have so I have stopped thinking about food. Still eating lots of fruits and veggies...really anything without meat. Meat and I are still just not friends. I can take a few bites and then.. yea not so much!!
Weight Loss/Gain:
+1 pound
Side Effects: emotional (don't think that will go away)
What I really miss:
fast food stuff from the States... Chipotle, BW3's, Mr. Hero... oh the
list can go on forever! (this won't go away I'm
sure...hasn't yet)
What I really love:
The last few weeks have been pretty exciting...
1.) We ordered a fetal doppler to listen to the babys heart here at home. We thought it would be a good way to involve Savannah and (hopefully) help her understand what is happening. So, we started by listening to all of our hearts, and then the baby's heart. Savannah was very excited the first time she heard it. Now, she tries to find the baby in her belly... hey, what do you want, shes a 2 year old (almost!).
2.) I felt the baby move at 14 weeks. A lot earlier than with Savannah-I think I felt her around 21 (ish). But a few days ago, Savannah got to feel the baby (Joe was at work and hasn't gotten a chance-yet). The baby was moving postions, so there was a big hard lump moving-which is really quite impressive that something that small could be seen already. Anyways, I was able to put Savannah's hand over the "lump" and her eyes got huge and the look on her face was priceless! I wish I could have gotten a picture of it. It was such an awesome moment though!!
We head to the doctor in 10 days. There's a good chance that we may find out the gender of the baby (I'll be almost 18 weeks. Normally they do the gender scan at 20 weeks but I know plenty of women that have found out after 16 weeks). So, get your guesses in... I'll post more baby news after that appointment! :o)
