Several months ago, Joe's company offered him a position as Process Lead for Phase II of their plant construction in Zhuhai, China. The position consisted of 1-getting up to speed on the type of processes/equipment to be constructed during Phase II (this needed to be done at their production facilities in France this fall), 2-relocating (with the family) to Shanghai, China to work with the engineering design company on the detailed project design (beginning in January, 2012), and 3-re-relocating to Zhuhai, China for the final stages of construction and start-up of Phase II. In total, the assignment would span 2-3 years in China. After careful consideration regarding the details of the assignment, relocation package, and timing we decided to take one giant step and agreed for him to take the position.
We started to make plans to sell the house, pack our things, and move halfway around the world. This was far more complicated than it sounds as Joe spent the bulk of September and October in France on his new assignment. Appraisers, realtors, inspectors, potential buyers... oh, and Savannah and I needed to be out of the way or out of the house during all the visits... It was more than a little frustrating at times. But at last things seemed to work out, and at this moment we have a buyer for the house with a signed contract, and barring some unusual situation we will be homeless come December 16th.
Bye Texas!

I cried...so exciting...but still sad too...(at least for me!)
